Time for Khalid Mishaal to check into a mental hospital
17 09 2009Few days ago, Khalid Mishaal, the leader of Hamas announced from all places, Khartoum that Hamas in Gaza not only import weapons, but also manufactures and export weapons as well. He commended the Sudanese government for its steadfastness and resolve against international pressure to end the war in Darfur and of course protecting its own backyards from the far reach of the Israeli air force.
Khalid Mishaal statement is not only stupid, but reckless and irresponsible as well. It seems he forgot that Gaza is under siege that he and Hamas are at the mercy of Israel and international donors, unable to bring in any food, fuel or reconstruction material without Israeli permission. It seems that Mishaal also forgot that Gaza is the people priorities are not his weapon industries but the right to food, housing and shelters and fuel for the strip to function. In Gaza no one cares if Hamas a nuclear bomb, what they care about is food, clothing and shelter and the right of access to the world.
It seems that Mishaal is taking the same disastrous road of Saddam Hussein when he was bragging about weapons of mass destructions when he never had any, putting the people of Iraq on the road to destruction and occupation.
I will not be surprised if Mishaal will soon announced that Hamas has acquired nuclear technology provided by Iran and soon Hamas will have a nuclear bomb. I also will not be surprised to read that Hamas has commissioned a series of advanced weapons manufacturing sites to manufacture fighter jets, drones, tanks and submarines and will soon join the elite club of weapon exports nations such as the US, Russia, England, France and Israel.
No doubt Mishaal and Hamas will also succeed in putting an end to the siege of Gaza and will soon have its well-trained and well-equipped army that will break through the siege and race toward Tel-Aviv, succeeding where Arab armies failed. When such a stupid leadership ever learns the lessons of the past?
Hamas and for sometimes have been spending hundreds of millions of dollars developing its Qassam rockets, weapons that are not only useless but has no military consequences and is waste of time and money. Thousands of these useless reckless rockets were fired on Israel doing little if no damage. Yet these reckless acts gave the Israelis the excuse they needed to come to Gaza, kill over 2,000 people, injuring tens of thousands, destroying entire towns and villages and doing some $ 4 Billion damage. Yet Mishaal and Hamas declare victory. There is something wrong, terribly wrong with such mindset and logic.
Perhaps it should do Mishaal and Hamas lots of goods if they put the money where it will do lots of good for the people, not the leadership and the few thousands members of the militias; investing in schools, in infrastructures, hospitals, social services, transports rather than putting whatever precious money they have in such stupid weapon industry that does no damage and has little if any impact on the security of Israel and has dire consequences for the people of Gaza.
It seems that Mishaal simply forgot that Sudan was unable to protect its airspace with the well known claims that Israel bombed a truck convey carrying alleged Iranian weapons destined to Gaza. Mishaal is doing the same stupid and reckless acts as Arafat did during the Second Intifada , when he wasted $50 millions purchasing arms knowing well that Israel and the US monitor the seas and Israel was able to track, boarded the ship, taking control of the ship, its cargo and the stupid man (he is serving time in Israeli jail) Arafat entrusted to bring in the weapons. Fifty millions down the drain. Fifty millions that could have built so many destroyed homes and farms. Time for Mishaal to check into a mental hospital.
