US at UN- An Act of Infamy

23 12 2012

Time for every one to sober up and come down from their highs. I do not want to throw cold water on the UN vote last week, nor do I want to dismiss the good will of the majority of the world that voted for “Palestine” as an observer state. However time for the Palestinians under Jewish Occupation and in the Diaspora to take a second look at 45 years of a failing national project and a failing leadership and make a difference for the future.

Every Palestinian should remember, Mahmoud Abbas who returned to Ramallah to a hero’s welcome after the UN vote is the same man who with Yasser Arafat and Ahmed Qurai negotiated and signed the Oslo Accord, which legally and permanently perpetuate the Jewish Occupation and created a management company (Palestinian National Authority) to manage the Jewish Occupation.

Arafat and the PA corruption and incompetence and the security cooperation with Israel were the main cause for factional divisions between Fatah and Hamas with the PLO/Fatah aborting the first transparent and democratic election under Jewish Occupation.

Oslo Accord gave Israel a “veto” power over “Final Status” made it impossible to ends the Jewish Occupation, return the Palestinian refugees, leaving Jerusalem beyond the reach of hundreds of thousands of native Palestinians subject to continued ethnic cleansings.

Before Palestinians go out and celebrate it would them good to go back and revisit the performance of the PLO, its PNC and leadership during the last 45 years. Revisit Oslo Accord and all subsequent agreements like Taba, Waye River and the Hebron Accord to see the criminal failings of the PLO and leadership.

While Oslo Accord placed 1.5 millions in Gaza and 2.5 millions in the West Bank under a virtual prison, the Hebron Accord placed over 100,000 in permanent house arrest in favor of 5,000 armed Jewish settlers and terrorists.

Over the last few days I had a good chance to read much about the UN vote and what it means written by many legal scholars, many politicians and intellectuals, Israelis and Palestinians.

Bibi Netanyahu reduced the vote to “nothing changes” and ordered the immediate building of 3,000 unites splitting the West Bank between North and South. Israel continues to occupy, shoot and kill, steal and confiscate land, demolish homes at will.

Mahmoud Abbas, (worried about the next pay check), promised he will not go to the International Criminal Court unless there is a new Israeli “aggression”. As if the War on Gaza I and II, the Apartheid Wall, the ever-expanding settlements, land theft, house demolitions, targeted killings and arbitrary arrests are not violations of international laws and not aggressions.

It is helpful for Palestinians to remember this new state was declared way back in November 15, 1988 when the PLO’s Palestine National Congress declared the state of “Palestine” in exile. Now 24 years later Mahmoud Abbas stand before the UN and declare the same state “under occupation”. What a waste of time? Much much of the land since 88 disappeared in favor of Jewish settlements.

The people should remember that Arafat in 1977 as sole decision maker and dictator shifted the Fatah national project from a liberation and “One democratic state” to a negotiated settlement on any “liberated land”. Hence Jericho First.

Hundreds of thousands of people died during those years as a result of an ‘armed liberation” that never was and massacres in Lebanon that went unchallenged and never investigated. Arafat and the PLO leadership were setting up the Palestinian people to scale back their hopes of ever returning home and a One Democratic State. Those under Occupation had to scale down their ambition to a “Palestinian Provisional” state under continued Jewish Occupation.

Arafat and Abu-Jihad aborted the First Intifada, which was perhaps the first and perhaps the only credible uprising in the history of Palestine. The First Intifada produced a partnership among all people, among all factions, rich and poor, street activists, intellectuals, famers; shopkeepers all joined together resisting the armed Jewish occupation with stones and slingshots.

Arafat afraid of the challenge to his leadership was bent on aborting such challenge, pumped millions of dollars to Fatah operative to abort the uprising. After Madrid he went into secret negotiations with Israel ending the First Intifada and concluded Oslo Accord as manager of this Jewish Occupation.

Other than offering lucrative jobs and assignments with international organizations to many of the PLO and Fatah incompetent corrupt operative, the UN vote means nothing on the ground.

Israel will continue to and expand settlements and Mahmoud Abbas will continue to ask for a permit to go back and forth between office and his house.

Question that should be on the minds of All Palestinians under Occupation and in the Diaspora what is next and how can the Palestinians continue to trust this leadership sitting in Ramallah to make a difference.

Time for the Palestinians to take matter into their hands. Those under Jewish Occupation organize a national civil and legal uprising that will end both the monopoly of failing incompetent unfit unqualified leadership, demand immediate revocations of Oslo Accord and disbanding of the PA as manager of the Jewish Occupation. A good start will be to burn and destroy All Israeli issued security and ID cards. The leadership should have the decency to return or burn all its Israeli issued VIP passes and cancel and revoke any and all security arrangements and cooperation with Israel.

To those in exiles time to line up behind a One State Solution, organize a new representative body to replace the much discredited and illegitimate PLO and give the necessary support to those challenging the leadership and the Jewish Occupation.

Syria, in support of the revolution.

The United States never was on the side of the people of the Middle East and is the only party standing between the Palestinians and their freedom and liberation and always stood the side of criminal dictatorship as they imprisoned, tortured, suppressed freedom and democracy and looted the country. Sabra and Shatila, 29 years of waiting justice.

16 09 2011

Today September 16th marks the 29th anniversary of the genocide committed against the Palestinian refugees in Sabra and Shatila. As was expected, the Palestinian leadership sitting in Ramallah and around the world did not make a mention of or remembers the massacre of some 5,000 Palestinians civilians massacred in Tel-Za’tar on August 12, 1976, nor did it open a formal inquiry or filed criminal and civil charges. It never cared about any thing Palestinians, never cared about the thousands killed and murdered or exiles. It only cares for it Israeli issued VIP passes.

A massacre committed by the Lebanese Maronite militia, the Phalanges, Etien Saqr (Guardian of the Cedar) a coalition backed and actively supported by non other than Hafiz Al-Assad and his Ba’athist Party.

The fall of Tel-Za’atar came about after more than 100 days of siege laid by the Maronite militias and of course with very active support from the Syrian Army. More than 1,500 civilians were killed during one day. The Syrian regime set the stage for what to come later in Sabra and Shatilla this time, it is the Israelis who provided the active support and participation in the massacre that took place during 15-18 September 1982.

The sad thing about it, the fact very few people within the illustrious PLO and Fatah ever talk about Tal-Za’tar and the active Syrian role in such massacre and as expected Hamas leadership, would never dare mention Tel-Za’tar lest it anger its sponsors sitting in Damascus.

As Arafat and his PLO left Beirut, and to save their behinds, never looked back at the hundreds of thousands left behind, let alone the thousands massacred under written guarantees from the US government.

While the massacre at Tel-Za’tar was a Syrian sponsored enterprise, the massacre at Sabra and Shatilla where some 3,000 were massacred was an Israeli sponsored enterprise.

According to news report, the planning for such a massacre took place at noon on Thursday, September 16, at the Israeli Command Post between Israeli Major General Amir Drori (later awarded a scholarship from Harvard toward his PhD) the commander of North Command, Fady Frem, the Lebanese Forces Chief of Staff, Elias Hobieka, the Lebanese Forces Intelligence Chief (later elected as member of the Lebanese Parliament and in 1990 was appointed by Syria as a minister and member of the Lebanese cabinet).

The day before, on September 15th the Israeli Occupation Forces secured the camps of Sabra and Shatila to facilitate the massacre by sealing and controlling the entrances and exists to the camps and providing transportation to the would be killers and murderers. Not only that but the Israeli Occupation Forces making sure the massacre continue on during all hours provided night flares to facilitate the continued killings.

For 3 days the Lebanese Christian Forces had a field day, using guns, knives and hatchets slitting throats, axing bodies, shooting and raping, while the Israeli Occupation Forces was monitoring all the communication among the killers and making sure the massacre was in full view of members of its forces. The report of the massacre was sent to Tel-Aviv and was seen by at least 20 senior staff member. Not only that but the Israeli Chief Staff aware of what was going on, concluded the “operation” should continue.
The news of the massacre and the active support of the Israeli Occupation Forces shocked the Israeli and on September 26, more than 400,000 Israelis demonstrated in Tel-Aviv holding the largest ever demonstration to take place in Tel-Aviv.

To control the damage done to the reputation of its army, the Israeli cabinet on September 28th established a Commission of Inquiry headed by Supreme Court Justice Yitzhak Kahan.

The Commission finding concluded that the Israeli Army bears indirect responsibility while the well known war criminal Ariel Sharon “bears personal responsibility” and recommended the dismissal of the Director of Military Intelligence Yehoshua Saguy, the demotion of the Division Commander Amos Yaron for at least 3 years.

As it happens, Israel voters and with strong support from the US Jewish community, Ariel Sharon, the well known war criminal was awarded for his role in Sabra and Shatila and was voted in as prime minister adding to the list of terrorists and war criminals who became prime ministers in Israel.

Some Israeli and Jewish apologist went further by calling those who complained about Israel’s role in the massacre as “blood libel” and the Princeton historian Bernard Lewis complained the world media gave too much attention to the massacre and making too much fuss over such a killing. It seems that more than 400,000 Israeli Jews did not agree with the views of the Princeton professor. Surprisingly I did not come across statement made by Allan Dershowitz the Harvard professor.

While Israel at least took the measure to form a Commission of Inquiry and did make a serious attempt at investigating the massacre, while making sure that Israel is not held directly liable for such massacre, not Syria, not Lebanon and certainly not the PLO ever organized a similar commission of inquiry and of course for obvious reasons. All do not have the courage or the backbone to take such a step. In fact Syria awarded the number one killer, the commander of the Christian Forces with the position of a minister, while the Lebanese awarded such a killer and a murderer a seat in parliament.

It is so outrageous and so shameful of Arabs and Muslims that none of the massacres committed within the Arab and Muslim world ever earned the right of an investigation. The massacre of over 25,000 Syrian in Hama did not even earn a mention in the Arab media. The massacre of tens of thousands of Kurds by Saddam Hussein did not earn a mention in the Arab press; the killing of tens of thousands of Iraqi Shiite by Saddam and his Ba’athist Party did not earn a mention in Arab media. The killing and murder of over 400,000 in Darfur was totally ignored by the Arab press until such time the world media took up the case and exposed such genocide.

Not to mention the more than 2 million killed in South Sudan, and the hundreds of thousands killed by the Taliban’s, all where totally ignored by the Arab press and as expected by Arab and Muslim governments

More troublesome is the total silence of the Palestinian leadership from the late Yasser Arafat to the present Mahmoud Abbas who until today never bothered to form an inquiry into both massacres. Even Palestinians NGO’s never bothered to organize and independent investigations, perhaps fearing they may lose some funding from the US or the European countries.

Surprisingly, the UN General Assembly on December 16, 1982 declared the massacre at Sabra and Shatila as an act of genocide. As expected All Western Democracies used to committing such massacres abstained.

The US and as expected when it comes to Israel could never honor any of its commitments, even written ones, such as the one it gave in writing to non other than Yasser Arafat. The US guarantee Israel will not enter West Beirut and make sure that no harms will come to Muslim habitants

We know the value of such written commitment, and the fact remains when it comes to Israel; the US has no sense of honor toward its own citizens and sailors let alone toward others like the Palestinians. One has only to remember that the US gave on a quick base over one million cluster bomb so that Israel can drop them over innocent civilians in Lebanon. Perhaps it is time to bring charges against the PLO, Lebanese Phalange and the US, Syria and Israel for liability in the case of the massacre of Sabra and Shatila

“Jewish facts on the ground”. NO way.

3 06 2011

Question, why should any one, let alone the Palestinians accept “Israel’s facts on the ground” when Israel not only never accepted “Palestinian’s facts on the ground” but through brute force changed these facts? The fact that Israeli Jews and beyond them American Jews claims special rights to the land, does not mean, these claims must be accepted by every one and it does not mean Israeli Jews are exempted from the rule of international law. Gaddafi, Israel and the US !

17 03 2011

Muammar Gaddafi went on radio few days ago, threatening no mercy for the pro-democracy residence of Benghazi . In the last few days, Muammar and his son Seif El-Islam feel energized again after making some gains on the grounds during the last 10 days. Thanks to President Sarkozy and France, the UN Security Council passed a resolution calling for a “No Fly Zone” and taking a measures to protect the lives of civilians in Libya. Though the Obama Administration was too keen on the no fly zone, for reasons that became clear it took a back seat, with a wait and see attitude, until Gaddafi was able to win the battle against his own people with ready and final assault on the city of Benghazi. France persistence finally paid off, finally the Obama Administration was allowed to vote on the USSC resolution 1973. It is too late for all those killed and murdered by Gaddafi, and the hope that his days as leader of Libya are numbered. Read the rest of this entry »

Take the US out of the “no peace” process.

18 02 2011

“ We had some success, at least for the moment, in not having that (resolution) arise there. And we will continue to employ the tools we have to make sure that continues to not happen” with these words Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg assured Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, perhaps the most anti-Arab, anti-Muslim and staunchest supporter of Israel and Zionist causes in Congress. Steinberg was referring to the Ramallah leadership efforts to bring the issue of Jewish settlements before the UN Security Council. Read the rest of this entry »
