Nachum the Zionist.. salam/Shalom/Peace. Yes it is me, Sami Jadallah. I think you and I have to agree that Oslo was nothing more than a deal between Rabin and Arafat whereby Rabin was able to put an end to the First Intifada and Arafat was able to save his ass and his PLO after his stupid, reckless and criminal decision to side up with his buddy Saddam. Under Oslo Israel handed over to the PLO/PA/Fatah became a contractor for the Israeli Occupation replacing the Civil Administration that ran the Occupied Territories. Of course Israel was the only benefeciary of Oslo. Israel shifted the financial burder of managing the Occupation to the international community under the pretex of having the PA. It contiue to build and expand settlements robbering and stealing Palestinian properties left and right. It continue to have total control over who can reside in the areas managed by the PA. It also allowed Arafat to build his corrput and incompetent security organization not to protect the Palestinians but to protect the Israeli soldiers and the criminal Jewish settlers. Oslo has nothing to do with ending the military and Jewish Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. It has every thing to do with giving Israel security while giving Arafat PLO/Fatah a very lucrative finacial contract. Hebron is but one exapmle. Your friend Bibi and his Likud never reconginzed Oslo let alone the rights of Palestinians to have a free state West of the Jordan River. The stupid Arafat and in order to save the PLO/Fatah recongized Israel without ever defining the borders of such a state in return for Israel recongizing the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people; TOZ alf TOz. Israel never recongized the right of the Palestinian to a free and independent state and never agreed to ending the occupation. Yes, I will always continue my assualt on the corrupt, incompetent leadership in both Ramallah and Gaza and will always continue my assualt on the Israeli and Jewish Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza and East Jerusalem and of course I will always continue my assualt on Zionism, not as a liberation movement for the Jews, but as a racist criminal enterprise not so different from the Nazis with its attitude and behavior toward the Arabs and of course I never will accept the idea that G-d promised the Jews the land and that a Jew from Brooklyn have the rights to take over my own properties and to exile me from my native country...The very idea of ressetling people or exiling people or removing people based on their ethnic or religious affiliations. This is a Christian-Jewish values as we have seen in the Pograms and in the Holocaust and in Colonialism not to mention Stalin forced relocations. I think in the end, both the Israelis and Palestinians know what would be the basis for a workable peace between the Arabs and Israel. The Arab Peace Plan is the blue print. I only hope that the American Jewish leadership does not stand in the way of peace between Israel and the Arabs. Keep in mind before there was Palestinian terrorism there was Jewish terrorism. You have to admit the Israelis are not really lily white with no sins and no crimes. all the best.

It's hard to discern this writer's (I suspect it is Sami Jadallah) purpose in this essay. OK, he holds the Palestinian leadership responsible for blowing opportunities but he keeps sticking in the "Zionists" and the Occupation. Look, here's the point all the Arab critics of Israel seem to miss. After Oslo, most Israelis reconciled themselves to having to give up territory and live with Palestine as a neighbor. The Israelis "get" it. The same cannot be said for the Palestinians. Encouraged and supported by Iran and Syria, Hamas and Hizbollah continue to promise their fellow citizens that one day, all of Israel will be destroyed. It's a clearly racist argument: the Jewish "monkeys and dogs" have dishonored the noble Islamic people and only the complete destruction of the "Zionist entity" can redeem the Arabs. That's the dichotomy: Israel has psychologically made the mental concession while the Palestinian leadership - if not the proverbial "street" - have not. So when I hear criticisms of Israel's "oppression" and "colonialism", I wonder: who exactly is Israel supposed to make peace with? Who on the Arab/Palestinian side can say to their own people, Israel traded the Sinai for peace with Egypt, has pulled out of Lebanon, left Gaza and even announced a willingness to return eastern Jerusalem to the very people who held Jerusalem for 19 years and wouldn't even let a Jew in to pray? The Israelis just want to live in peace and can bring economic benefits to the whole region instead of having to guard its borders. The answer, sadly, is no one: no Arab can say the necessary 7 words to the Palestinian street: " We should live in peace with Israel." So Israel continues to be stern in protecting itself which the Arab world then uses as evidence of Israel's aggression. Israel for its part is rightly appalled by the Arab street celebrations whenever an Israeli is killed, even if it is a child. Americans rightly condemn that kind of obscene terrorism but the united anti-Israel coalition of nations then condemns the American Jewish community for its supposed stranglehold on American foreign policy. What would those of you who fault Israel have it do? If Israel yields territory without Palestinian concessions, Palestinian militants declare it a victory and perpetuate terror as a means of gaining more. If Israel refuses to yield territory, Palestinian militants declare that Israel is oppressing its people and call for acts of terror. There is one fundamental and so far intractable issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and that is the steadfast unwillingness of Palestinians and powerful Arab countries to tolerate a non-Muslim state in their midst. From this one issue all else flows, including all the wars and terrorist campaigns preceding even the 1967 War. The Israeli presence in the West Bank and Gaza is an effect, not a cause, of current intolerable and intolerant conditions.
