Only in America. When the Rich Fleece the Middle Class and Poor this is Capitalism. When the Rich are called on to Pay their Share of Taxes, it is Socialism!

Before leaving the US on my present business trip I made sure I went to the Fairfax County Government Center and cast my vote to the Obama-Biden ticket and voted Democrat all the way. I also made sure that I do donate (twice) for the Obama campaign.

Sitting here in Morocco watching US election coverage on different channels; Aljazeera English (perhaps the very best and most professional news channel), CNN and the BBCW and the reactions of voters toward both candidate. I also have been reading the Washington Post to stay up to date on the election and what I see and read is simply amazing.

Of course, there is no way for many White Americans, especially the poor and lower middle class to not think of candidate Obama, but a Black man in a White man game. Aljazeera interviews with White voters in St. Clairsville, Ohio soon after a Sarah Palin pit-bull stop is most telling how distrustful poor White Americans of America of the 21st century, where an American who happens to be Black is giving an aging WASP a run for his money.

The statements where that of fear, hate, apprehension, distrust and of course great distortion of the Obama message. Now the issue is not associations with “terrorists’ or Muslims but “Socialism” as an added Obama of “un-American” value message.

Never could understand how tens of millions of poor White American, for the most marginalized without decent housings, or decent schools or even full time jobs can see themselves as “capitalist” and support a greedy sleazy Republicans who fleeced them and the nation and vote for McCain-Palin ticket? One would think that these poor Whites who like to think of themselves as “middle class” when in fact and statically they are not, would demand a fair distributions of tax dollars, so they too can afford indoor plumbing’s, (more steady for McCain buddy Joe the plumber), decent housing, decent schools and with steady jobs that gives them dignity and self respect not to mention health care.

Do not understand why such a large segments of our people in the rust belt states of Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania and Southern states like South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee and West Virginia would want to vote Republicans when Republican and George Bush policies not only kept them unemployed and in the poor house but made sure that it keep there for a long time. Of course too many of these voters, the fact they are White, unemployed without health care makes them well qualified to be “capitalists” as they understand it and as Sarah Palin and John McCain simply explains “Capitalism” to them. When these poor and marginalized people contribute whatever little they have and contribute their tax dollars to support the greedy rich who and for a long time since the days of Reagan have been fleecing the poor and the nations of hundreds of billions of dollars to these voters that is American and White Christian Value and of course Capitalism.

When Obama ask and call for a fair distributing of tax burdens and tax dollars, where the supper rich, those making more than $250,000 pay more taxes and where super executives of Wall Street and major corporation no longer permitted to take home tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars in annual compensations, then this is “Socialism” and it must be bad because someone like Sarah Palin said it is bad and its un-American. Of course fleecing the poor and the Middle class is un-American and it has no place in any value system let alone White Christian value systems.

Do not understand why these poor and lower middle class American voters do not understand that it is their rights to have a part of the American dream and this American dream does include a decent house, a steady job that provide decent living, guaranteed educations for their children and a health care system that give them access to decent hospital and preventive care? I guess I am even having more hard time in understanding how these lower middle class and the tens of millions unemployed and uninsured voters do not throw the Republican rascal out of power and put them out of business for good.

There is nothing American with being in the poor house living on credit cards with 40% interest rate and unemployed and if employed living from pay check to pay check. Perhaps these voters know better than me about American values. I do not share these values. Perhaps Sarah Palin is right that American Patriotism is not every where and is limited to towns where the majority of people are poor and unemployed and the only job they have is to join the military and go to war. It seems that the Republicans made a convincing arguments and won the hearts and minds of these voters and convinced them that to be good and loyal Americans they must contribute to the rich and powerful and they must accept what Ronald Reagan once called “trickle down economics” where the poor and middle class only expect what little crump’s the rich decides to drop on the living room floor or in the yard.

Yes, we have seen what American immoral Capitalism can do for our nation and economies. There is nothing wrong when poor and middle class Americans contribute and take on added debts of $ 850 Billions to give to the rich and powerful business that is Wall Street. My old saying of “masses are asses” is so true in this case.
