Look whose talking about “Radical Islam”

2 02 2011

Of all the people who have the Chutzpa to talk about “Radical Islam” is non other than Benjamin Netanyahu the head of the most “Radical Jewish” government in Israel’s history.  The Israeli prime minister made this statement in a joint press conference with the German Chancellor “ our real concern is for a situation that could develop…and which has already developed in several countries including Iran….repressive regimes of radical Islam” who seconded his concern referring to Mubarak repressive and criminal regime in economic terms after her talk with Mubarak” we talked. about where there are deficits, for example in connection with human rights and press freedoms and electoral law… and employment for young people”. The Nobel Peace Prize winner Shimon Peres added, “ fanatic religious oligarch is not better than a lack of democracy”.

I was debating the title of the essay even the reference to “ Radical Jewish” in describing the present government of Israel. Not that I am afraid of any accusation of “anti-Semitism” since the accusation is easy thrown at any one who may have an issue with Israel or its policies.  I chose to go ahead with the use of “Radical Jewish” as a counter reference to “Radical Islam” since my essay is directly related to the fear expressed by Israel and the West of “Radical Islam” coming into power in Egypt and in other Arab or Muslim countries that may face the wind of change in the near future, and the wind of change is coming.

It goes without saying that the present Israeli government is perhaps the most “radical Jewish” government in Israel’s history far more radical than the government of Menahen Begin or Yitzhak Shamir. For the first time in Israel’s history radical if not “fascist” Jewish parties are part of the government and the political landscape.  It is not so difficult to define and label the party of Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu but a “radical Jewish” party, though it claims to be “secular”. It is also difficult not to label Shas Party of Eli Yishai but a “radical Jewish” party. The same is true of the United Torah Party, National Union/ Eretz Yisrael. Yisrael Beiteinu is the party that calls for “transfer of Palestinians” and whose political guru is Zev Jobotinky who called on Jewish underground to terrorize the Palestinians as a way to ethnically cleanse Palestine ahead of the creation of the State of Israel.

The spiritual leader of Shas Chief Rabbi Ovdia Joseph called the Palestinians “evil, all whom should perish from this world- God should strike them the plague”.  More “radical” statements where voiced by the likes of the late Rabbi Kahane, who was a leading advocate of “ethnic cleansing” of Palestinians from present day Israel with perhaps the largest Jewish followings in the US, and who said “no trait is more justified than revenge in the right time and place”. One of the followers Rabbi Khane gunned down scores of Muslim prayers as they performed the Morning Prayer.

Of course not only Israel has scores of “radical Jewish” parties and groups but the US as well. Among the best known “radical Jewish” organization are “StandWithUS”, that attacked Jewish Voice for Peace with pepper sprayl, Campus Media Watch, Committee for Accuracy in the Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA), In Tirtzu an American Jewish organization generously funded by non other than John Agee who contributed $200,000 to this organization. Others are Daniel Pipes’ Middle East Forum, Steve Emerson’s Investigative Project on Terrorism. Most if not all of these organizations are tax exempted generously funded by US taxpayers.

It seems Israel and the leaders of the US, France, Germany, England and Italy among the many who are worried about “Radical Islam” taking hold in Egypt always putting forward the Muslim Brotherhood or Hamas as examples of “Radical Islam” when no one is looking inward especially in Israel or the US fail to see the many “ radical Christian” and “radical Jewish” organizations as well. There is literally hundreds of this kind of radical organization such as Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces, American Friends of LIBI, Alliance Defense Fund, Christian Coalition of America, and Judeo-Christian Council for Constitutional Restoration, Kentucky State Militia, Ohio Unorganized Militia Assistance and Advisory Committee, Georgia Republic Militia among many.

One has to wonder why Israel, the US and the West all are worried if the likes of Muslim Brotherhood is part of the new government in Egypt?  No wonder bothered to ask the Arab and Muslim if they are worried about “radical Jewish” and “radical Christians” that are part of major governments. Why the Muslim Brotherhood is “Radical Islam” when Yisrael Beiteinu and Shas and United Torah are not “Radical Jewish”? And where Judeo-Christians Council for Constitutional Restoration is not radical organization.

Ps. A correction was made, the attack on Jewish Voices for Peace was by pepper spray and not molotov cocktail.
