The news from Gaza is not a good one. Israel is carrying on with its promised to bring its holocaust “shoah” in keeping commitments made by Maton Vilani, Israeli deputy defense minister. To the time of this writing, and within 24 hours, more than 46 Palestinians killed more than half civilians, women and children and elder persons. Israel announced 2 of its soldiers dead and few wounded. More than 80 dead and more than 200 wounded since Israel began its “shoah” against Gaza two days ago.

The sad thing about all of this escalation is that Israel never ended its occupation of Gaza and has kept Gaza locked up, under siege with Israeli soldier making all of the decisions on exist and entry. The world and the leadership in Ramallah somehow after the routing of Fatah thugs from Gaza simply forgot that Gaza remained under Israeli Occupation.

With the tragic events going on now in Gaza and with Israel continuing its holocaust against Gaza, one has to be reminded of the reckless and irresponsible statements coming out of Mahmoud Abbas and his claims that Alqaeda is now in Gaza. Such statements give Israel and the world a good reason to be silent on the massacres going on. Perhaps Mahmoud Abbas gets his daily briefings from the Israeli Mossad and the American CIA, since he has no intelligence of his own.

But then let us not put all of the blame on Mahmoud Abbas, the man is doing all his best to carry on with what he, Arafat and his partner Ahmed Qurai committed to Israel which is managing the Israeli Occupation under a contract granted to the PLO, Fatah and PA.

The leadership in Gaza is equally to be blamed for the big mess in Gaza. The civilian and elected leadership, powerless, with no vision and no programs to address the siege of Gaza and the enormous social and political problems faced by Gazans, have ceded its powers and decisions to few masked men “resistance leaders” who have been carrying on with their stupid and reckless toy rocket called Qassam, creating another internal siege of Gaza from within. No one dare to challenge these “resistance fighters”.

To Hamas leadership, Islamic Resistance in Gaza have become so holy cow, just like Arafat was for Fatah, no one can talk about it, no can debate it and no one can challenge it, any talks or debate becomes blasphemy for Palestinians. Islamic Resistance while appreciated and needed must not be beyond criticism of debate. It is not the Holy Quran, and it is not sent from Heaven to be beyond debate.

In the last 4 years over 15,000 of these stupid Qassam rockets where fired on Israel mainly the town of Sderot without causing hardly any damage. In total one Israeli died as a result of such rockets while thousands of Palestinians perished from Israel’s continued attacks on Gaza. Thousands of homes were destroyed in Gaza while the residents of Sderot suffered from sleepless nights and could not enjoy quite dinner.

One has to wonder and raise the question, who is really in charge in Gaza? Is it the political and elected leadership or is it the few masked gunmen we see on television and who fires these useless rockets. When people dies in the thousands and when homes are destroyed in the thousands and when life comes to a stand still one has to wonder and ask the questions who is in charge? Why the Hamas political leadership does not take charge and put an end to these stupid rockets, and rein in the leadership of the military wing of Hamas and call the shots and live up to its responsibility as the elected leadership.

No one can deny the rights of the Palestinians to resist the Israeli military occupation with the force of arms. No one can deny the rights of the Palestinians whether Hamas or Fatah or Islamic Jihad or all the other organizations to take up arms and fight the Israeli Occupation. Fight and take on the Israeli soldiers in Ramallah, in Nablus, in Jennin, Gaza as they go about enforcing the Israeli Occupation and commit crimes against the Palestinians. The French did it, the Dutch did it, the Norwegians did it, all nations and people took up arms to fight foreign military occupation. Such rights must not be denied to Palestinians because the occupying power is Israel and because the religion of Israeli is Jewish. I have always called suicide bombing targeting civilians within Israeli of 67 borders, a crime, and a murder and could never be justified while always recognized and defended the rights to fighting Israeli soldiers as legitimate and rightful.

Israeli use of US arms and weapons against Palestinians civilians is a crime, a war crime committed both by Israel and the US. However there is an absolute need to have an open debate and extensive debate on the use of “armed resistance” against Israel as is the case in Gaza. The Palestinians could not afford another totally mismanaged “Intifada” that brought nothing but disaster and was nothing but total waste. For over 60 years the Palestinians have been going from one big mess to another without having a real debate on war and peace and where do they go from here. The Palestinians have been in the wilderness for more than 100 years, 60 years more than the Jews spent in Sinai.

The most tragic thing about the Palestinian cause is the lack of an intelligent, competent, corrupt free leadership. Arafat was nothing but a big fraud, failed at liberation and ended up as a security contractor for Israel. Abbas continued to carry out Oslo contract more interested in getting the “right” payments for his PA and Fatah as civil administrators for the occupation, but without the power the Israeli Civil Administration that managed the Occupation before handing the job over to Arafat. Hamas leadership whether in Gaza or Damascus is no better than that of Ramallah, with no vision, no plans to manage the mess Gaza and no workable idea for liberation other than total reliance on Qassam rockets.

The Palestinians needs to change all of that. Forget about the UN, it is a useless organization. Forget about the US, its decisions on the Middle East are made in Tel-Aviv and when made in Washington are made by agents of Israel. Forget about the Arab League, it is useless as any thing else. Forget about the world opinion, it cares for a sleepless Israeli in Sderot than it cares about thousand dead Palestinians. Best thing to do is to forget about armed struggle and go all the way and seek full citizenship within Israel, and then take up the fight for ending the Israeli/Jewish Apartheid.
