Is President Obama fooling himself and fooling the world?
20 05 2010Unlike former President George Bush, President Obama is well known for his smart, intelligence and savvy as a leader and as a politician and is critical and independent thinker who listens to his advisors but in the end he is his own man. However his approach to the conflict in the Middle East and his efforts to push for a two state solution through “proximity talks” raises some serious doubt if he really believes in such a solution.President Obama not withstanding his inner circles of advisors most of whom can be labeled as die hard Zionist or better the “New Afrikaners” knows or should know that Israel whether Labor, Kadima certainly Likud does not believe in any solution that will give the Palestinians a free sovereign state on the territories occupied in 67 including East Jerusalem, The facts on the ground, not the false statements coming out of Jerusalem should confirm all of that, President Obama the smart man he is should know this that by now, but why all the pretense? Why pretend there is a chance for a two state solutions and push forward with “proximity talks” knowing well those talks even if direct will never result in a two state solution and will never lead to ending the Israeli Occupation that began in 67. I do believe that a push for such talk is nothing more than a public relation service; the Palestinians and the Arabs are simply going along with this American staged act.If Israel was ever interested in a two state solution, it could have reached such an agreement between the late Rabin and the late Arafat. Instead of Oslo, Rabin could have easily proposed ending the Jewish Occupation and could have concluded a detailed time frame for the establishment of a “sovereign” Palestinian state along the lines of 67. However Rabin, chose to end the First Intifada and found a willing partner in Arafat who was willing to relieve Israeli of its financial burdens and obligations and was willing to manage the civil side of the Jewish occupation for a fee and a cut of the money raised from the international community to fund the operations of the Palestinian Authority and to keep the PLO and Fatah in business. All Israeli statements, American statements, Arabs, certainly Palestinian statements, about a two state solutions are nothing but lies, since both Israel and the US never made any efforts to translate statements supporting a two state solutions to facts on the ground. The only facts on the grounds one sees is the diminishing chance perhaps lost chance for a two state solution. The ever expanding settlements, the continued exile and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from East Jerusalem, the continued house demolitions of Palestinians under the pretext of “ no building permits”, the close to completion of the Apartheid Wall, all of these are making two state solution a political and historical lies and are moving Israel more and more to being an officially certified “Apartheid” state no different from former South Africa.Of course President Obama the smart man he is knows this very well, and he, like his counter parts in Europe and in Ramallah are simply lying to themselves and wishing for the day of an Israeli Apartheid state will not come about during their tenure. For President Obama who fought Apartheid it will be very difficult for himself morally and politically to be the first African-American president sitting in the White House that gives political, economic, financial and military support for an Apartheid state. President Obama does not wish to be the man sitting in the Oval Office while Israel getting certified as an Apartheid State, thus the support for perpetual negotiations that will leads to no where, and he knows it.The New Afrikaners within the American Jewish community and of course within the Jewish lobby will take on the active role of supporting such an Apartheid state and will make sure that Congress continues to give unlimited and unconditional support for this new Jewish Afrikaans Apartheid state, with business as usual. It is inevitable that Israel and within a short time and not in the distant future, perhaps within a decade will be that Apartheid state. The world and especially the United State and the people of the US, will take a second look and will push for ending this “special” relations with a racist Apartheid state, no matter how much efforts the New Jewish Afrikaners in Washington and in the US will make to provide Apartheid Israel with political, financial, military and public relations support. The inevitable truth will soon take over and even a congress like that of the US will start to rethink its total and unconditional support for such a Jewish Apartheid state.May be it is time for Mahmoud Abbas and his team to retire from a career in negotiating with Israel and decide it is time their own daydreams and the daydreams of President Obama to come to an end, thus accelerate the process for the inevitability of a Jewish Apartheid state. For sure it will be a very rough ride for the Palestinians to continue to suffer such daily crimes committed by a criminal racist state, but then they have withstood more than 63 years of suffering, discriminations and humiliations, and a dozen or so years will not make much difference. Of course Israel will try its best to force the “transfer” of Palestinians to Jordan or some other place, but it will not succeed in the “transfer” of more than 5 millions and get away with it, even if the US gives Israel total support. The Palestinians have to understand that living in Jewish Apartheid state will never be easy, but tenures of Apartheid states could never last forever and sooner than later, perhaps much less than it will take for the Palestinian leadership sitting in Ramallah to reach an agreement on a two state solution. It is the Palestinian leadership that is standing in the way of Israel becoming a full fledged Apartheid State and is giving President Obama and world leaders a save facing grace period.
