Its undebatable that Nasser made several grave mistakes in dealing with israel. He did surround himself with incompetent corrupt assholes like hakim amer who did not know shit and was by no means a military man. The defeat was nasser, amer, Hssein and noureldin's fault.
However, i need to remind you that abdel nasser did take the responsibility of the defeat before the egyptian people and resigned. and most importantly you cannot blame nasser and hold him responsible for the defeat of other arab armies or because he "bullied them into entering the war. Every arab leader at that time was at war already. it was not something nasser has created as much as something he used to spread his ideology. Also, you have to give credit for the man who refused to let the palestinian case go in spite of the numerous american tries. the main reason he nationalized the suez canal was to gather funds for the high dam. The US was going to loan egypt the funds with the condition of letting go of the palestinian case and decreasing his hostile feelings towards israel. this resulted in the tripartite attack on egypt. someone other than nasser would have let go for the safety of his country but he didnt. Last point, other arab regimes are to blame just as much as nasser, they were equally corrupt and even more incompetnt, just remember what king hussien did when he warned the israelis before the yom kippur war.
sorry for the long comment but you have to give nasser his deserved credit and share the blame (i do believe he was to blame by the way).

The left have far more money than the right in America.

Occupy Wall street proved how much money the left has. Who paid to bus in all those demonstrators and who paid them to stay for so long? That takes an unbelievable amount of $$$ and the Tea Party has nothing like that kind of backing.

The left in America are filthy rich, they control absolutely everything that goes on. As for your mention of Jews, they overwhelming vote Democrat, despite all their wealth and privilege.

Sammy,

I know and understand the point you impart. I live in the US, and as a result I understand the value of liberty, freedom of expression (the non-insulting form), human dignity and universal human rights.
I however believe that all these movement you named, from all the religions, are regressive on all fronts stated in my words above. No one should be denied, religious freedom to choose. The problem is religion's practice in general that has been used as a tool of divisiveness by all concerned.
Among other problems, like hypocrisy by the west, on not recognizing that if they use religions, Muslims have that right as well. As hypocrisy is not intellectual, and certainly not honest. I just believe in humanity, and religion is personal, between me and my creator. Maybe Nationalism failed, it’s still alive and well in the west and the Zionist entity. Maybe the flaw was in individuals not the ideology. Maybe they had too much room to be corrupted, and religion did not stop it. Religion as a political philosophy, also failed. How about the Zionist entity, how about the Islamic republic of Iran. How about Hezbollah as a “religious” movement, advocating with the evils Syrian regime, on the slaughter of many innocents.
I understand the point of the double standard, it’s very clear. However, the solution of political religious movement is very flawed, and anti-God.

Thank Lenya.... salam.. you are so right... the Arab culture was enriched by other culture and personally I could not say it is unique to Arabs, but a contribution of all the people and faiths in the region... I think the biggest danger to the Arabs is not external but internal. Rather than scientists, educators, intellectuals, artists, economists taking the lead to rebuild the nation, we see uneducated, ignorant people with narrow minds taking the lead... True, Islam should be an inspiring source of political formation of a new order, however Islam must not be the only source...The future strength of the Arab world lies in making sure that all people irrespective of faith and ethnicity have a stake in the future system...Now there is a need for true thinkers to take their place and lead rather than hid and side with discredited regimes... I think the biggest danger to Islam and Arabs is the "Talmudisation" of Islam by the ever expanding clergy who are emerging as the "nobility" of old regimes...

The new Rennaissance you are talking about or the Arab Spring as others call it seems to be turning into an even more sinister face of radical Islamism. When I read on the history of Arab culture I can see the rich history and diversity, in the past, but as I read further on the enrichment you speak of in Islamism seem to be also the start of the slide of the Arab rich culture and diversity spiralling into an abyss that has continued to today. Islam instead of taking the rich Arab history and culture into more heightened diversities of science , education arts, etc, seem to have gone the other way. Yes the sweep of the Muslim conquests into the western world spread the rich Arab culture into those regions but this was in the early years of Islam when the older generations of Arab learned men and women were still thriving...as new Arab translators of the Koran and new writers of Islamic Hadiths emerged so did the decline of the rich Arab culture. So from my perspective Islam has not made things better for the Arab people but rather the opposite.
