From Nelson Mandela to Thomas Friedman, what no one in Ramallah dare to say

4 02 2008

Left: Nilson Mandela, Right: Thomas FriedmanDear Thomas,
I know that you and I long for peace in the Middle East, but before you continue to talk about necessary conditions from an Israeli perspective, you need to know what’s on my mind. Where to begin? How about 1964.

The Siege of Gaza, Israeli Crimes, Palestinian Failures.

29 01 2008

Few days ago, I received from my friend, Subhi Ghandour, the executive director of Al-Hewar Center in Vienna, VA an article written by Mohamed Sief Aldawla of Cairo, titled “Infrastructure for the Siege, Four Treaties and Thirty Nations”. The article is perhaps one of the best and most telling, I have seen so far on the background of the deliberate siege of Gaza, in which the Palestinian Authority played a key role. Gaza on my mind, part 2

24 01 2008

Finally and after 40 years the people of Gaza got it right and tore down that stupid wall. It is not the Berlin Wall, but to the Palestinian people of Gaza it was more than that. Gaza was a virtual prison, where over 1.5 millions were locked up on all sides. Read the rest of this entry »

Gaza on my mind

21 01 2008

Palestinian demonstrators take part in a candlelight vigil against the Israeli blockade of the Gaza StripWatching the news last night of Gaza in the dark makes me sick. Both Israel and the US see the only major issue and conflict in the Middle East is Iran threat to Israel but not Israel’s Occupation and never the threat Israel has posed during the last 60 years. I am afraid that Israel will convince George Bush that war on Iran is in Israel national interests in the same way it convinced George Bush through its agents within the American administration that the war on Iraq is in Israel’s best interest, of course paid for with American blood and money. Only fools continue to believe in a two state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

4 01 2008

ANNAPOLIS, MD - NOVEMBER 27: Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas and U.S. President George W. BushAt one time and for a long time, I always believed in the possibility of peace between Israel and the Palestinians based on a two state solution along the 67 borders with Jerusalem as a shared and open city. No more.

Like millions of Palestinians under occupation and millions of Palestinians in exile, I see the possibilities of a two state solution gone for ever. Read the rest of this entry »
